Business Spotlight

Ms. Linda Jonasson speaking about Turning Point

during the June 2017 Chamber meeting.

Turning Point has been a member of the Clatskanie community since 1971. During the 46 year of operation, Turning Point’s mission has been to assist low-income individuals with food and other basic needs, as well as address emergency crisis situations for members of our community. Turning Point was created when the founders saw a need for this type of service, and found that no other service like it existed in Clatskanie.

Looking to the future, Ms. Linda Jonasson would like to see                                                                       Turning Point open 5 days a week and to offer classes for their                                                                   clients. Classes would ideally include budgeting, cooking and                                                                     interviewing. Of services currently provided, Ms. Johnasson is                                                                   most proud of Turning Point’s ability to help connect their clients                                                               with much needed services as well as help clients find                                                                                 employment.

During the month of May, Turning Point provided 104 food boxes

to people in need. In total, those food boxes served 308 individuals

including 110 children, 38 seniors, 61 disabled and 21 homeless.

Food donations were received from private donors (341 pounds),

food drives (1,463 pounds) and Safeway (4,394 pounds).

Turning Point is a non-profit organization serving residents of the 97016 zip code and operates entirely by donations. Donated items to be sold in the thrift shop can be dropped off during business hours.

Thank you Turning Point for being such a wonderful addition to                                                                 our community and serving so many!
